FoE UK are organising a citizen science air quality measurement programme.

Here's mine:

The results will be analysed, as I understand it, in connection with King's College, London.

My dot on the map will be bad, very bad ...

... and after two weeks it goes back for analysis.

It's been quite windy these last two weeks so the result might not be as bad as predicted. Of course, post-Brexit we will be at liberty to ingest as much NO2 and as many diesel particulates as we like. Glad confident morning! Though the afternoons might have a brownish tinge.

Though FoE haven't written back yet, it appears that the result from their map is:

"Average NO2 (in μg/m3) during that period = 23.71"

... which compares favourably with the EU average annual limit of 40 µg/m3. I had better stop complaining.

The wonderful people at SEDAC have produced a grid of ground-level NO2 at ~10 km resolution.

Here's my version of that data for western Europe:

... and my pixel has ~14 µg/m3 (assume 1 ppb = 1.88 µg/m3), so not far off given that the pixel is rather large and I pretty much live under a dual-carriageway.

Netherlands/Germany not so good.
