I would like to see smooth daily update of credits.

I know the credit script has been an issue for quite some time, with delays, gaps, etc. It looks as of 15 Feb 2017 it can't keep up even with a weekly update - and yes credits may not be as important as other things, but I would like this to be properly dealt with.
Many other projects provide daily (i.e. WCG) stats which can be used for various reasons (self esteem, Gridcoin, project evaluations etc).

So I wish that CPDN updates stats daily even if it means writing a new script if needed.

The prooblem with this is the way credits are calculated on the basis of returned trickles rather than successfully completed tasks. (The reason for this being historical when most tasks took several weeks to run, it meant credit was still granted regularly.)

So I wish that CPDN updates stats daily even if it means writing a new script if needed.

I don't know how easy it would be to write a new script that would still be fair that could run without taking up significant computer time. - I understand the current one ties a machine up for the best part of a day. I am sure someone knows more about this than I do and can give a more comprehensive answer including the likelihood or not of any change.

At the moment there is the trickle processing problem to deal with which will certainly have a higher priority.

The "servers" at Oxford are virtual machines, located where ever there is room "some where in the City of Oxford".
The data is stored on NAS servers, also "some where in the City of Oxford".

So the credit scripts, on the "servers", have to connect to the relevant NAS over the university network to do all of the calcs.
And it's just possible that the Powers-that-be have said something like "run this at the weekend, because you're clogging up the network for too long".

Les, is it possible to give some info what is expected in terms of the credit script. Here you talk about "an ongoing process to make a permanent fix." for the missing trickles, but is Oxford team looking into the credit script so we get regular weekly updates (if not daily) or other benefits?

That's all that I know, and the words "an ongoing process to make a permanent fix" are what was said by the project person that answered my email.
