Message 55086 - Posted: 3 Nov 2016, 8:04:56 UTC

Lately I have noticed that everytime I visit the forum pages I have re-login to my account to see which threads have been updated. The "Stay logged in" check box is selected but doesn't result what it is supposed to do. Anybody else seeing this?

Haven't noticed anything different here. Is it possible you have changed something in your cookies settings?

Though I don't. Wonder if it is browser dependant? Using Firefox Nightly, 52.0a1 (2016-11-02)(64bit) here. Will check using chromium to see if any different there either later today or tomorrow.

Cookie settings have not been changed. I see this in two computers that I use daily, both are using the latest normally released Firefox (49.0.2) for Windows 7 x64. I'll test Chrome to see how that works.

[Edit]Same thing with Chrome.

Now replying using Chromium, and it goes straight in with no problems. Can linux be handling things differently? If not, I am stumped.

If accessing the message board via a link (bookmark, favorite [sic]) then try recreating the link once logged in. That should give an HTTPS rather than HTTP. On Microsoft Edge, at least, that gets rid of the repeated login requirement for me.

I do login via HTTP and the check box works, I do it on Ubuntu via Mozilla 49.0.2
If I try login via HTTPS I get the following

Your connection is not secure

The owner of climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website.
climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is only valid for www.cpdn.org Error code: SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN

and I've been offered to Add Exception. Which I haven't accepted.

Hope it is useful

... it looks like the Web site is a work in progress at the moment: the "Main page" link goes to a "Global Warming Index" page and the logo link goes nowhere. Better wait a bit ...

It's all part of increasing the security of the project.
This is just the beginning - soon you'll find more problems if you're still running an old pre-7.n.n BOINC version.

There is something that no one else has mentioned. The button to create new threads seems to have gone MIA, at least in Chrome.

This solved my problem.

You are right Jim, new thread button is present in Chromium and Firefox but not Chrome or Opera. I won't bother checking the more obscure browsers I have on one of my Linux boxen.
