For the past month Boinc has been idle on Mac1. I still see the project, ClimatePrediction.net. Mac1 isn't getting any notices. What do I need to do to put Mac1 to work? I clicked "Reset Project" but its "are you really sure...?" message scared me off.

Mac2 meanwhile is still chugging away.

Hello Lancer

There is very seldom any work for the Mac computer. Climate scientists usually don't use them.

The one that you're running was part of a batch of about 5,000, that was also for Windows and Linux. There are thousands of Windows computers waiting for work to show up, and they grab most of them fairly quickly.

You can see what's available on the Server Status page in the blue menu to the left, 5 from the bottom.

************

Instead of reset project, you should use Update project. But there's a one hour backoff each time your computer contacts the server, so you only get 24 tries per day. Best to just let your computer do this.

Lancer Kind: I will post in the thread No Tasks Available for Mac? if new models appear for the Mac - and others might too. If you subscribe to that thread then you'll get an e-mail when someone posts and have a good chance of getting a model.

I wonder if anyone has written a script to interrogate the server status page and set up an alert for when particular task types are available? I am sure there are people out there who could make it prompt BOINC manager to do a project update?

Perhaps this belongs in the Wish List section of the forums?
