when I ran the boinc_4.02_i686... executable, I figured it was going to unpack and install to another directory, but it just started running in the current directory. So now I\'ve got the boinc exec and a bunch of .xml files, as well as the slots and projects directories just sitting in my downloads folder. Is it safe to move everything to another directory?

it should be OK, I guess you can stop BOINC, backup things, and move as an experiment. I believe BOINC will tell us (CPDN) the full path after it has established them (CPDN works on relative paths for the most part)
