I am getting error messages that the final work unit is "absent" .... intermediate results appear to upload fine.

from the log:
11/19/2014 10:16:44 AM | climateprediction.net | Computation for task hadcm3n_x0vn_1940_40_009148406_4 finished
11/19/2014 10:16:44 AM | climateprediction.net | Output file hadcm3n_x0vn_1940_40_009148406_4_1.zip for task hadcm3n_x0vn_1940_40_009148406_4 absent

I am not finding any other error messages..... Where are these stored? Can they be uploaded? Running windows xp 32 bit, core 2 duo 3 GHz.

That error message is an indication that the model has failed before the final zip was created.
This is a common happening with climate models.

The real error messages are in the page for each model, under Stderr. Click the + symbol to expand the list.

To find these pages:
Go to your server Account page.
Scroll down to near the bottom, to where it says Tasks.
Click on View.
In the list, find the one that's of interest, and click on the name in the first column.

You can find some more info about failures in my recent post here.
