I recently registered for the ANZ project but found for many days no work was available (I also checked 'If no work for registered projects then send any available')

When I checked the timing of WU releases I found that they are always released in UK business hours which has no overlap with the availability of my systems due to time zone differences.
See here http://ob.cakebox.net/cpdn_status/server_status.html

If you want to encourage regional participation with media releases like this...
http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2014/mar/25/10000-people-to-research-link-between-humans-and-australias-record-heat

then I suggest you time the release of WUs to business hours of the corresponding region.

First, that status page is unofficial. Ours is in the blue menu to the left, 5 from the bottom.

"10,000 computers" is NOT from the number of members of the public that are expected to sign up.
Most will be from the thousands of regular crunchers who participate here. Some use the hundreds of computers from universities, business, etc. (With permission.)
And, as these regulars live all over the world, there's no "right time" to release them.

Models take days to complete, even on computers left running 24/7.
If you expect to get anywhere with them, then only having your computer on for a couple of hours a day will take for ever.

The model that you are running now, is a re-issue of one that failed on another computer. This can happen at any time of the day or night. It's one of a handful that were issued a few days ago as a final check.

The project proper hasn't started yet.
When it does there will be thousands of data sets, which will last for a couple of days, plenty of time to get a few.

I suspect that the model that you have will fail on your computer as well.
I'll let the project people know about the processing problem so they check it.

Hi Tony,

We had actually thought about this problem, so the release of ANZ work is timed to co-incide with working hours in Australia/New Zealand. By releasing them after the working day here, we hope that will give all the interested parties in ANZ a fair chance to get the work that is released.

Keep an eye out for new work within a few hours :-)

Thanks for the info, I canceled the likely faulty work and collected some of the new release.
