Visual Fortran errors have been with us for years. They're even mentioned in the README files on the php board. And we still don't know of a definite reason for it.

It only affects some computers, and for short periods of time.
Best guess is that it's to do with the program not being able to read or write to the hard disk at the moment that it wants to. Possibly:
A failing sector on the disk
The av program scanning something in the BOINC area
A change to something made by a program update
etc

I had to abort my last WU for the same reason. It rarely happens fortunately.
