Hi.

Im running climateprediction project in BOINC client, and i've noticed that i dont get any new tasks for some reason.
I clicked update button, to get new tasks, but it says:

2011.05.09. 11:46:57 climateprediction.net Not reporting or requesting tasks

I'm wondering why i dont get any new tasks ?
Strange becoz, im runing BOINC on two host computers, and on the other one, there is no problem with it, after reporting a finished task, requesting and getting a new one...

Please let me know, how to request a new task manually ?

Thanks in advance
Cheers

- What is under "Status" in "Projects" tab?
- Do you have any CPDN work suspended? (That guarantees no new work.)
- How many other Projects do you run? (If too many and depending on resource share for each, boinc might think CPDN isn't ready for more work.)

On your P-4, three Tasks: You aborted a HadCM3n task on 05May after one Trickle and aborted a PNW task on 12Jan. "Finished" but not complete. Periodic Trickles from a SAF task since 11Jan.

On your C2D, two tasks: One EU task and one PNW task. They're listed as "Over" and "New". Do they appear in the Tasks tab?

[Edit: You already tried the manual method to force a download.]

Status row is empty.
No suspended work.
As You mentioned, I've aborted a task, because the deadline was in 1 or 2 month, but the estimated remaining time for finish computing was shown as about 4500 hours.
So i've just aborted it, expecting to get a new (maybe smaller) task which i can finish.

We are talking about my P4 host (its in the office)
On C2D (home copmuter) everything is fine.

Now I've tried to detach project on P4 and reattach again, to get new tasks.
Seemed to be work, but now i've received downloading error.

Says: Download failed.

On a few occasions, I've experienced the same http errors downloading that same 'oxi' file. My guess is that the interruptions are a consequence of the server dealing with an 81-Meg file. (Do you have ISP file-size download limitations?) The thing eventually continued, then completed; if memory serves, download didn't start from scratch. (With other Models, download failures sometimes restarted from scratch.)

Please give it more time. It should eventually satisfy boinc's timeout and get the remainder of the file. The good part is that it's a one-time download for Regional Models; that is to say, download of that file won't be required for your next 'EU' task.

There's a proviso with not needing to download the big file again:
It's only if you have a continuous supply of these models on your computer.

If you finish a model without having another one ready and waiting, then the big file will be deleted along with all of the other files.
It's not meant to be like that, but it is in practice.

And for the zillonth time; there is NO deadline for this project! That's just a BOINC artefact.

The data will be accepted long past this artificial "deadline".

Because these are very long models, BOINC goes into panic mode when it gets one. Especially if that computer also has very short models from other projects to juggle, along with climate models.
But eventually it will work out that things aren't as bad as they seem, as the time-to-completion drops. Then it will drop out of panic mode, and go back to round robin processing of all work.
But this may take as long as a week.

Unlike with other projects, aborted climate models don't get re-issued. They're just wasted.

Also, the only way to make sure that you DON'T get one of these long models, is to go into your project preferences and de-select them. Or only select the shorter models if you have nothing at all deliberately selected.
And also de-select the pref setting: If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications?

Hi.

Thank You for the quick answers for both of You.

The thing i know for sure : I dont have ISP file-size download limitations !!!

Waited for days to finish download, before i posted here :(
Puter is running 24/7 (Office machine) so it had a lot of time trying to finish...

You adviced: "Also, the only way to make sure that you DON'T get one of these long models, is to go into your project preferences and de-select them. Or only select the shorter models if you have nothing at all deliberately selected."

I had/have all models selected.
How do i know, which 1 of em are the shorters ?

You said: "there is NO deadline for this project! That's just a BOINC artefact."

In this case, i dont mind at all, if i got a long model with thousands of hours computing time, i was just throwing a panic when i saw estimated finishing time, thats why i've aborted.

In the future i wont, i just need to have it downloaded at last.

Now I've de-selected the pref setting: If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications.

See what happens now, but if u have any idea, dont hesitate to advice, im willing to try anything to make it work...

Thx in advance...
peace out

Waited for a few days.
Finally it has been downloaded, so now it is working...
