Message 41733 - Posted: 8 Mar 2011, 12:16:56 UTC

I have 5 ClimatePrediction.net tasks that have reached 100% processing, but cannot upload all of the files. Processing is 100% completed. It has been like this for about one week. The tasks are UK Met Office HADAM3P <region> tasks. Smaller files seem to be uploaded, but not the larger 32 MB files.

Usually the upload messages say something about "project servers may be down", but a recent upload attempt said "[error] error from upload server, server is out of disk space".

Communication between my local PC and the server is a problem also.

I have an Intel i7 processor which normally runs 8 tasks in parallel, but after those troubles with the servers I have 18 tasks that are waiting to be able to upload a 32MB file. That doesn't hurt me but I cannot download other tasks to be executed. It simply says "Not reporting or requesting tasks".
What can I do to receive new tasks.

Not reporting tasks is because BOINC hasn't finished uploading all of the files for any recent tasks.

Not requesting tasks is usually because BOINC has decided that your computer has enough work to carry on with.
If this isn't the case, then there'll also be another line or two of messages as well. Perhaps Reached daily limit. But there's also others, and you're the only one who can see them. :)

Also, with the more recent versions of BOINC, Suspending a work unit for a project will mean that BOINC won't try to get more work for that project.

Please keep an eye on the News and Announcements thread at the top of Number crunching for news about when the server for the "13" zips might be close to being returned to service. This thread can be subscribed to, to receive an email when there's a new post.
Or watch the Server Status page, which is linked in the blue menu to the left of here.

The BOINC client will stop asking for work for a project when it sees too many of that project's tasks stuck trying to upload. (How many is too many varies by project, I think.) The way I understand it, BOINC assumes the worst and prevents the host from downloading new work that it will also be unable to upload. Once the stuck uploads go through, BOINC will resume asking for work, provided all other work fetch conditions are met.

So it would probably be a good idea for Beckj to fetch work from another project until the stuck #13 files can upload and new climate models can then be downloaded.

A similar issue faced here by me off-and-on for a while (several months), http://www.climateprediction.net is not available over http albeit ping/tracert go through.

I found my way onto the forum quite by accident via http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/

After a backup of all files under BOINC with a reference to 'climateprediction.net', I modified the entries to reference http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc instead ... without success.

It would be nice to have some guidance here please.

--- Follow-up -----
Detach/reattach using the modified URL brings up a message that says 'Access to reference site succeeded - project servers may be temporarily down'

Hey guys,

i'm also having these upload problems since two days. Here's what BOINC tells me:

27.05.2011 18:40:06 climateprediction.net Temporarily failed upload of hadam3p_eu_2kex_1990_1_007228469_0_12.zip: connect() failed
27.05.2011 18:40:06 climateprediction.net Backing off 39 min 19 sec on upload of hadam3p_eu_2kex_1990_1_007228469_0_12.zip
27.05.2011 18:40:06 climateprediction.net Temporarily failed upload of hadam3p_eu_2kef_1990_1_007228464_0_3.zip: connect() failed
27.05.2011 18:40:06 climateprediction.net Backing off 40 min 28 sec on upload of hadam3p_eu_2kef_1990_1_007228464_0_3.zip
27.05.2011 18:40:07 Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.

What is this about? Is the server down or are there any other problems?
Thanks in advance.

Lots of problems.

See my post here for a brief summary of some of them.
Also see the various threads on Number crunching: Upload problems, Download problems, No work, etc.
And then there's News and Announcements, right at the top of number crunching, where notices are posted.

For the server status, see the link to Server Status in the blue menu to the left of here.

Running boinc 6.12.26 (x64)

After resetting the project due to corrupt file in project folder.

I have two work units waiting to be uploaded.

also

When will your up-loader server be on-line?

When do you envisage more work units to be available?

There's no information available for either question, but hopefully, next week.
