I hope someone can explain something that just happned to me. Six of my eight running WU were getting close to finishing so Boinc started to place six new WU into place to run just as soon as my WU ended. Also, at the same time, I was recieving a host of new downloads. Suddenly, Boinc claimed that six WU were completed (they are not done yet) stopped the six new WU and withdrew them, as well as retracting all the new downloads!!!!!!! It also claimed that the daily quota of 8 new 'results' had been reached!!! Furthermore, it says that no new work is available from the UKMet office for HadamP3.Does anyone know what is happening? Les? Milo? Anyone? Thx for any help in advance.
Cheers
Bill

Assuming it was your Core i7 920, you got the following errors on download:

<core_client_version>6.6.36</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
app_version download error: couldn't get input files:
<file_xfer_error>
  <file_name>hadam3p_data_6.06_windows_intelx86.zip</file_name>
  <error_code>-197</error_code>
  <error_message>user requested transfer abort</error_message>
</file_xfer_error>

</message>
]]>

So, it thinks you aborted the transfer of the new model data. When so many models fail, due to compute errors, or download errors, the server limits the number it will try to send in a given day. I'm not sure why the transfers were aborted.

Geophi;
Sadly, it does not say that at all. In fact, it all happened in a flash and it said nothing about the aborted attempts. This is what it says:
started download of 1989_12_init.gz
update requested by user
Reporting six compeleted tasks; requesting new tasks
Scheduler request compeleted; got 0 new tasks
Message from server: no work sent
Message from server: No work available from UK Met office HADAMP3
Message from server: (reached daily quota of 8 results)
Message from server: (Project has no jobs available)

These last four lines are all in red. The transfers simply disappeared in a flash before my eyes. I then went back to the 'tasks tab' and there were no more waiting WU to start (that is to say; the six that were there in anticipation of the finish of the six WU nearing completion). There is nno mention of the aborting of all the downloads, or the disappearance of the six waiting WU in the task tab. Any ideas as to what has happened? I am at a complete loss as to what happened. Any enlightenment is VERY appreciated!!!
Cheers

From the messages you quote in your second post I wonder whether you pressed the Update button in the Projects tab while the downloads were in progress. Could doing this have the effect of aborting the downloads? I will try doing this to see what happens. That will be when I have just one model's files downloading in Transfers.

What version of BOINC have you got?

There is nno mention of the aborting of all the downloads,

For your computer labelled: GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz [Intel64 Family 6 Model 26 Stepping 4]

Thanks Les. I should have clearly stated where I got those error messages from.

Thx Les also. I thought that this was coming from the messages that the server was sending me, rather than from the statements on each pc. I think that maybe I did hit (or click) the update button and that did upset the apple cart. At this moment it does say that 2 WU are in waiting, which does differ from the earlier six WU. Hopefully, everything will go smoothly from here. I will post again once the two WU near completion finish up and see how my pc and Boinc react. Thx to all for helping out. For now, my fingers are crossed........
Cheers

By the by, the system did not update today as far as RAC or anything else. Furthermore, when I went to check on server status, it is nothing but a blank page. Any ideas if we are having server problems right now?
Cheers
