Hi, I'm new to BOINC and it seems I am doing something fundamentally wrong judging by this... http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/results.php?hostid=961598

I am getting the same errors with E@H (compute error) so there is something wrong with my setup.

I have excluded my Avast AV from on-access scanning of the BOINC dat folder and have set CPU usage to 100%.

Any fix ideas? Am going to give up BOINC if I can't get any useful results out of it!

Doing a Google search on "error 226" turns up a lot of posts, most of which indicate a corrupted program, or a malware program (virus, trojan, etc).

So it's most likely a problem with your computer, and not with BOINC or the science applications.

If it is BOINC, then uninstalling it, downloading a new copy, and then re-installing should fix it.
But if it's a virus, or one of the Windows programs is corrupted, then you'll have to dig deeper.

I wonder whether the problem is what Geophi posted about here. This only affects HadAM3P models. I see your computer now has a HadSM MH model and has already sent up a trickle from it.

In your BOINC Manager messages on about line 7 you should see this sort of description of your processor's features:

05/04/2009 06:10:13||Processor features: fpu tsc pae nx sse sse2 mmx

If you copy that line in a post, one of us should be able to tell whether your computer can run HadAM3Ps.

By the way, we try always to announce that sort of thing in the forum News thread which is at the top of Number Crunching. It's worth subscribing to that thread so you get an email with a link straight to every new CPDN announcement.

I am getting error messages also. This just started about two weeks ago. All my other BOINC projects run fine except this one. I finally disabled it and aborted the loaded task. I will check it again in about a week or so.

Input/Output Error 178: Permission denied

Checked three of your failed Runs and all had permission issues. Do you run security scans which lock files temporarily? (Norton is one.) If so, it should help to exclude boinc folders from scans.
