The only thing I can view is the BOINC Manager. How can I get the model visualisation?

This depends on many things.

1) If you have BOINC version 6 in protected mode, and one of the \'old\' climate models, you can\'t see it. The new models have had their graphics separated.
2) If you have no task listed in the Tasks tab, there\'s nothing to look at.
3) If you do have a task, you need to click on it to select it as the one for the graphics to display. Then click the Show graphics button.

I have version 6.2.18 and 4 tasks running. The \"Show graphics\" button is grayed out. Does this mean I am running one of the old climate models?

Assuming that you followed step 3, then yes, it does look like it.
But ALL models are important, so keep going.

If you really want to see the graphics, then:

1) Exit from BOINC
2) Use Windows Install/Uninstall to delete BOINC. (Note that this will take quite a while, as all of the model data has to be migrated back to the old location.)
3) Re-install BOINC, but use the Advanced option, and leave the Protected mode selection blank.

This will put BOINC into the old Single user mode, where the old style graphics can be seen.
Note that if you started this project with 6.2.18, I\'m not sure what happens to the data. The above only applies to people who have been here for a while.
It probably stays where it is.
But the installer should sort it all out.

Once you\'re completed all of your current models, (which will be a few months for the hadcm3 model), you can return to the protected mode of install if you wish.

Thanks, that worked, and the data is still there.

Well done, RAK!

For everyone\'s information, there\'s now a News thread post (top of the forum Number Crunching section) about the topics of CPDN model versions and BOINC versions.

I just reinstalled XP on my machine, and took the opportunity to get the latest version of BOINC. I'm running version 6.10.58 and I can't see the graphics. I just started a new project. I highlighted the project, clicked the Show graphics button, and I see a featureless grey and white ball. The screen saver is just black. I don't know how to check if I'm running in Protected mode. Anyone know what's going on?

Hi JRussell

Apologies that nobody's replied before now. Please read the Boinc FAQ about screensaver problems. The same thing is probably affecting both your graphics and he screensaver. Jorden's first point is most likely to be your problem.
