I have been trying to join CPDN for the last 2 days (I already run 11 other BOINC projects), when I tried to create an account via BOINC Manager 5.10.45, I got:

\"The project is temporarily unavailable. Pleae try later.\"

I managed to create an account manually via the website in order to post this.

By co-incidence, the project has had server problems for the last 2 days. It doesn\'t happen often, so it was just bad luck that you tried to join when you did.

And now that you do have an account here, be sure to say Existing user when you try attaching from BOINC, otherwise you\'ll have 2 accounts here.

Any forecast of when I will be able to attach a computer?

I just re-tried again this morning with the same error message.

The project was available again a few hours before I posted, so you have a different problem.

You could try creating a cc_config file, as per the 4th post in this thread, and see what the messages say.

If you attach to your manually-created account from the Boinc manager, do you get the same message as when you try to create an account via the Boinc manager?

If anything else fails, you can still try this :

take the smallest account_???.xml file you have on that box

copy it to this filename :
account_climateprediction.net.xml

replace the <master_url> value with this :
http://climateprediction.net/

replace the <project_name> value with this :
climateprediction.net

replace the <authenticator> value with your account key.
You find this on home.php in the line that says
Account key
Provides full access to your account

restart BOINC and it will attach immediately (or at least it will try to).

Once you have such a valid account file, you can use it to \"inject\" CPDN into any other box you\'re using by just copying it and then restarting BOINC.

p.s.: never post your account key to any forum please.

p.p.s.: use a simple text editor, not a word processing program for editing that .xml file (Notepad, Ultraedit, vi, vim, ed, edlin ...)

But you have an account (the one that you\'re posting with), why don\'t you use that one?

p.s.: It should be possible to attach to http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/ as well, it has everything a master page needs.

BOINC will complain about a wrong project URL on each contact but it will still work.

Please read the first message in this thread, I created an account via the website yesterday, because I had been having problems using the automatic feature in BOINC manager. I now have an account, but still cannot attach to the project.

Just tried that, different error message first time I tried it.

Just re-tried and SUCCESS. BOINC Manager has downloaded my first model.

Thanks, Keith

Welcome on board and good luck with your models :-)

If you have trouble with the HadCM3 model on that AMD machine, try the HadSM3.
You can choose the model type in your CPDN preferences.

The RAM should be sufficient though, basically HadCM3 should work.

I do not really have an idea why this \"wrong\" URL worked but the other did not,
it was just intuition - but as did the job, that probably doesn\'t matter ;-)

This \"wrong\" URL even has a major advantage over the official one : it does not
depend on two different web servers in order to funtion.
