I use boincstats BAM, and when i change resources from there, Climateprediction won\'t update the same amount of resource. I can change it only in Climateprediction website on my account. Other projects it changes fine but not this one. Where is the problem??

It\'s possible that BAM isn\'t compatable with the version of the BOINC software used here.

I think it\'s a while since CPDN upgraded its BOINC version. When Milo\'s done the next upgrade you may find that this BAM facility works here too.

The upgrade took place about mid May.
The server software is now up to BOINC version 6.

I also find that CPDN still does not respect resource share changes made in BAM.

That is not a \"CPDN thing\". It is, by design, a \"boinc thing\". And it\'s \"your thing\". You assign priorities to projects in your Preferences. That works, until your preferences fail to allow a particular Project\'s Model to finish before its deadline. Then, boinc gives high priority to the latter case so it won\'t fail to meet its deadline. When that Model completes, boinc then \"pays back\" the Projects held in abeyance and the previously privileged Project gets nothing until the debt is paid.

It\'s all documented in the ReadMe section . . .

As to BAM, it\'s an add-on and I haven\'t used it. Intentionally. Neither boinc nor CPDN was designed for it. It was designed for boinc, eh? BAM issues should be taken up on the BAM site.

I\'m not talking about how BOINC allocates actual CPU time. What I\'m talking about is simply the setting of the preference on the project website. As far as I understand things, when you update resource shares in BAM, or some other account manager, the AM contacts the project website and requests an update of the resource share on it. This works for 9 out of 11 of the projects that I run, so it would appear that it does this in a fairly standard way. I\'m just pointing out that it does not work for CPDN, when the impression that I got from previous posts in this thread was that it might now work.

Perhaps what I should have said in my initial post was \"I still find that updating the resource share in BAM does not result in the resource share being updated in my CPDN preferences.\"

You and other members seem to have had this problem since March 2008. CPDN upgraded its BOINC version for the servers after that date so I don\'t think the reason can be that CPDN is using an old version. There must be something that Willy (who is in charge of BoincStats and BAM) or Milo at CPDN needs to do.

Could you please tell us which other project your BAM resource share doesn\'t update for?

Could you also please tell us whether you or anyone else have discussed this problem (concerning CPDN or the other project) on the BAM part of the BoincStats forum? If there\'s already a discussion about this, could you give us a link to it?

The other project which doesn\'t get updated from BAM is World Community Grid.

There\'s a discussion on this issue here:

WCG seems to do a lot of things differently from other projects so you\'ll need to ask on their forum.

I\'ve posted in the BoincStats BAM thread you linked to and hope that Willy will see my post and reply. If he doesn\'t notice it after a few days I\'ll send him a private message.

Me to, I\'ve just tried to change \"Computing preferences\" in Boincstats(BAM) site. Seti@Home and Spinhenge@home sites updated changes immediately, but Climateprediction - settings left same as it was long time ago. I can change it only manually in CPDN site.

It would be great is someone would resolve this issue.

Hi Ernis, welcome to the forum. I\'ve just seen that you and another CPDN member, Salyavin, have posted about this on the BoincStats forum. I\'ve replied there:

Thank you for these reports. Milo at CPDN admin was on holiday for two weeks over Christmas and New Year. This BAM problem is on his rather long to-do list. There are only two CPDN programmers for a massive project which is why some things don\'t get done immediately. The problem hasn\'t been forgotten.

Mo

We know this is a nuisance for BAM users and hope you can be patient until Milo has time to fix this.

I see that BAM members are still having the same problem. I\'m going to inform Milo.

The various account manager scripts are in place, but they are on this server and by default account managers will look at the other one (with the climateprediction.net URL). On that server there are some php scripts with the same name that simply re-direct to the proper URL.

So, I don\'t know if there\'s a fault with the scripts on climateapps2 or whether the redirect causes the problem. If there\'s a way of persuading BAM to look at the correct URL (e.g. http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/am_set_info.php) then that would determine where the problem lies.

Milo says:

I meant \"i.e.\" rather than \"e.g.\".
So BAM is pointing to climateprediction.net when it should be pointing to climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc.

This means only one link may be wrong which simplifies matters.

I emailed Willy at BAM about the problem. He says:

BAM! is using the correct URL (http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/) for AMS-RPC\'s.

I will have another look as soon as I can.

Would someone who has been affected by this problem mind checking to see if it\'s still there, please?
