My Intel iMac is completing the Beta version of CCP this morning. Should I download a new app from the CP site or will it start automatically once completed? Also, my account at CP has 850 credit and 17,000 at the beta account site. When should I expect beta\'s credit to be applied at CP?

Hi ksd

If you have cpdn beta set to Allow new tasks in the Projects tab of boinc manager and network activity enabled, a new beta model should download automatically. But his will only happen if beta currently has work for Intel Macs. The list of beta models available

http://climateapps1.oucs.ox.ac.uk/beta/

gives me the impression that the current beta models being tested are only for Windows and Linux. If you get the message that there\'s no work from the project, this will be why. If that happens, it will be best to set cpdn beta to No new tasks in the Projects tab to stop the messages.

You\'d then need to get a model from cpdn main project instead. Before doing this, have a look at your cpdn account preferences where you\'ll see that you have a choice of models. The HADCM 160 years are really long and need 512Mb RAM each, the HADCM 80 year models are half the length, and the HADSM slabs are shortish and can manage with less RAM.

I think you need to sort out your account details in order to see your credits. Type your name into the BoincStats search box and 2 separate accounts come up.

http://boincstats.com/forum/forum_index.php
One account for Einstein and another for cpdn beta. Each has a different cross-project ID number which means the email addresses on both projects aren\'t the same and can\'t synchronise. You\'ll have to go into your project accounts and change one so that both are identical.

If you click on your name here and look at your computers by clicking on All hosts, you\'ll see that you probably have multiple records of the same computer.
On each project account, you need to look at the detailed page for each computer and go to Merge computer at the bottom of the page. (I\'d choose Merge computer rather than Delete this computer if you\'re given the choice.)

After making the changes, for each project on each computer you need to click Update so your changes are communicated to the server.

If you\'re running different projects on different computers, you need to have every computer attached to ONE of the projects so the servers can synchronise your details across the different computers.

At the moment it isn\'t possible to attach to cpdn (see the News thread at the top of the Number Crunching section), and it may not be possible to attach another computer to cpdn beta for the same reason. But if necessary you could get all the computers attached to Einstein. If you do this, attach as an existing user and use the same email address as before.

After all those changes it will take the servers a couple of days at least to sort your accounts out and show your credits in a single account. After a day you could update every project on every computer again to help push through the sorting-out process.

First of all let us know which new model you get as that\'s the most important thing.

I will update my info, but currently BOINCStats project page will not updat. I will try later. I will run the HADCM 160year project. Currently I am only running the Einstein & CP on the Intel iMac, which has 2GB RAM. So it should run fine.My iBook is PPC so I can\'t run CP anymore with it, unfortunately. Thanks.

Hi again

It\'s your account details at the projects you\'ll need to change. To make sure they all have the same email address.

The email address is the same in all accounts. How can I add the beta account to CP? From there I\'ll merge them. When I click on the CPDN news link you have attached, the page just hangs and does not load.

The \"Total\" credits from beta are added to the cpdn credits by a program running on the beta servers. RAC credits are not added. This is based on the username/email address used at both projects, so as to match accounts.

****************

When I click on the CPDN news link you have attached, the page just hangs and does not load.
One of the servers is currently down; this is the one that runs the front page of the project as well as the alternate forums, and, unlike the rest of the servers for the Oxford climate project, is actually located at the Open University at Milton Keynes, 40 miles to the NE of Oxford. Until this is restored, some parts of some projects won\'t work.

There is a separate, duplicate, News and Announcements thread on these boards (here), near the top of the Number crunching section.

****************

Projects don\'t update BOINCstats; they create some \'export\' files once a day, and it\'s up to the various external stats sites to attach to each project and \'import\' these files; then they add them to their existing data, based on the username + email address of each user. This is also usually done once a day, so, after all user names /email addys have been made the same on all the projects, it may take 2-3 days for the data to appear / be corrected, in the external stats site.

****************

A slight correction to what Mo.v said:
There must be a common path from different computers to all projects being run.
The simplest way, is for a least one physical computer to be attached to ALL of the projects.

****************

Merging all appearances of a single phsyical computer won\'t affect your BOINCstats credits, but it will make it easier for you to check up on what you have, as credits go to the appearance which first started a model, NOT a latter appearance that has being created by restoring from a backup.

This merging needs to be done separately on each project where you have multiple appearances of a single physical computer.

Thanks for the clarification, Les.

Ksd, you seem to have got started on the merging of computer records. It can take at least a couple of days for the different project servers to then sort you out. The beta credits will be there somewhere; they\'re just not showing up yet.

If you click on my name you\'ll see I\'ve got some credits for beta models. But you\'ll also see that beta isn\'t listed as a separate project (even tho one has to attach to it separately). The credits from beta are listed separately, but they get automatically imported into the cpdn total.

Is your cpdn-beta account also under the same name? Could you tell us your beta user ID or host ID number please? The host ID should be in the first dozen lines of the attached computer\'s boinc manager messages.

Thanks mo.v and Les, I will wait and see how the merging turns out. I think everything should update properly over the next few days. I will download and start the next project.
