Hi,
I keep seeing the same message while running BOINC. See attached text. This has been going on for some time.

It is only the climateprediction.net which shows any errors. The other one runs great.
Any thoughts?
I currently run Vista...

Thanks,

Per

Try rebooting your router and see if that makes any difference.

What sort of setup do you have, do you connect to the internet via a proxy server (usually a work/university computer), or do you have ADSL / cable etc?

If you follow the \'README\' link in my signature, does the \'crashes and other problems\' post in my signature have any useful ideas in the networking section? In particular, the post about configuring firewalls might be useful.

Hi,
No proxy,I am connected with a hi-speed line to the local phone/service provider.
I have a Linksys DI-704UP router connected to the hi-speed modem.
I saw something about the climateprediction address, 163.1.13.17, and can ping that.
I regularly reboot my computer etc. and just logged into my linksys and did a reboot. I have the latest Firmware from 2005...
No difference...

I run Vista Home Premium and its firewall/defender. Actually, I have to give permission for Boinc to run every time I boot up as Vista blocks it. I have to look into how to avoid that step.

Cheers,

Hi. I’m running Vista Home Premium also. If you are really serious about fixing it so that you don’t need to OK boinc after every reboot then turn off “User Account Control.” Be aware that this will make it more likely that a virus or other rogue program can download and setup on your machine.

Hi,
Yes, I am aware of the UAC and the implications of that.
On the other hand I am puzzled about the error message as I have done a Ping and a trace as per another posting:

Trace complete.

I am not a network specialist but can see the number of hops and the time involved. I also run the latest version of BOINC. Always installed in the same directory... As it is, the climateprediction is doing nothing of value right now and has done that for some time. I even looked at the DNS addresses at Sympatico and changed them in the networking setup... Nothing changed. So, I am stumped.
