Is it possible to move a project that has run for about 210h (5,4%) to an new computer? (It feels waste of time just to dismiss the job done and load a new project) /Nils |

Nils Instructions for doing this are in the README files linked from my sig below. The one you want is README - Running the Model, near the bottom. Backups: Here |

Nils, It\'s not difficult - I\'ve moved a model to another PC many times. You need to make a Backup on the old machine and reload the Backup onto the new machine. When you make the Backup, make absolutely sure that you have Exited BOINC, otherwise some of the relevant files will remain open and cannot be copied correctly. When you have copied the Backup onto the new PC, it\'s a good idea to install BOINC on top of the just-loaded model to make sure the register entries are correct. The golden rule is not to delete anything on the old PC until the model is running correctly on the new one. That way, you can make as many mistakes as you like but you can still go back and do it again correctly. (I\'ve moved models and made mistakes before too, but always been able to recover.) |

As this model has done less than 6%, the probable speeding up on a new computer shouldn\'t create a problem. But it\'s always a good idea to keep making regular backups of the complete contents of the boinc folder at least weekly. Let us know when you\'ve transferred the model, or earlier of course if you need more advice. Cpdn news |
