This is not really a setup issue, but maybe someone here has the answer. Who is it that issues the CPID? At present, I am only running CPDN, yet my CPID keeps changing, and my stats at BoincStats keep getting lost, since they are linked to that ID. BoincStats says they aren\'t doing it, so CPDN must be. Why is it changing?

Thanks

Nick

According to your previous post, you\'ve been trying various projects to try and get your SETI stats to show up here.

Everytime you add a project, the server for that site creates a cpid, which is then passed to the other projects, and their server then changes your cpid on that site to be the same.

This is how you synchronise cpids.
It will stop changing when you stop adding projects.

BOINCstats, like all stats sites can only reflect what you are doing. But they won\'t lose your results; only give you separate results for each set of cpids.

Thanks for the response. I have not added a new project since CPDN back in April. Previously, I ran SETI, and did want those credits to show up. I finally gave up on that, and changed the email address for the SETI project, so I should only be associated with the one project. All I\'ve been doing is crunching numbers, and the CPID is changing. Is there another stats site (besides BoincStats)that works well?

Also, I did sign up (a few weeks ago) with GridRepublic... I wonder if that might be a problem...

Gracias

Nick

The only human involved in this is you.
Everything else is just computer programs.

What you have probably done wrong, is to disconnect from SETI, BEFORE attaching to cpdn.

This is all through these forums, but just to make it clear:

1) You MUST be curently attached to ALL projects for which you have credit.
(You can re-attach, set that project for \"No new tasks\", and then abort any WUs that started to download.)

2) In the Projects tab, click the name of the 1st project, and then click the Update button.
3) Repeat this for all of the projects.
4) Check in the Messages tab that each project did respond OK. (Some may be down, in which case you\'ll need to start again later.)

5) Wait a week or so for:
A) each project to export their xml file, and
B) your selected stats site to do an update including each of the project\'s xml files.

Your cpids will now be the same on all of your projects, and ALL stats sites will show ALL of your credits in the one group, one line for each project.

Arrgh. The only human involved in the process (me) has been doing nothing but running CPDN and scratching his head at the stats thing. I have neither added nor deleted any projects over the last week. I have not added a new project since adding CPDN on 18 April 07.

Yet... CPID (as of 5/19/07): 17dffa014570ab62bb409d72015e8428

Current CPID: 4b2dfb503c9ad3d0f174ee9bfd5ef54a

Not showing up in BoincStats, but I think Willy is annoyed with me, so I\'m probably being blocked. Such is life. This should be rather straightforward.

1) Running only one project
2) Haven\'t made any recent (within the last 3 weeks) additions or removals

yet...

3) CPID changes, and from what it looks like, it does it every few days.

Thanks. I\'m about to the point of saying \"to heck with it, I just don\'t care\", and moving on. The stats are nice for bragging rights, but to me, the contributing part is far more important, anyway.

Thanks for your forebearance and help.

Here are your BoincStats figures:

http://www.boincstats.com/stats/user_graph.php?pr=cpdn&id=443359

BoincStats shows the CPID starting with 17..., and netsoft shows the one starting with 4b.... Usually the bigger number is the one which becomes permanent.

I think it may be related to the fact you have 6 hosts. It may take a while for them to settle down to a stable CPID?

Your boincStats signature is here:

Do know that BOINCStats has another quirk. If you use different nicknames around the projects, your CPID changes and just looking for your name by typing in that name and leaving the \"exact match\" option on won\'t find your statistics.
