I\'ve noticed that even though credits are being applied on the CPDN website, BOINStats doesn\'t appear to be being updated with CP stats. A quick look at others\' stats shows that no one has received any.

Is there a problem with the stats production?

The stats export was disabled for a couple of days while the project backend was being updated, but it should be running tonight (so tomorrow\'s BoincStats update should appear).

Thanks Mike - hopefully a nice boost to my stats with several trickles going through then!

Do you have your Network settings allowed to upload in BOINC Manager?
BOINC Manager->Activity->??? What is it set to?

If Network activity suspend, you won\'t upload trickles. So they won\'t register anywhere.

Credit is not given immediately. Credit is created once a day, when it runs. You will get your credit, probably in the next 12 hours.

When you restore from a backup it takes even longer to get to your credit total. The Trickles, are ignored till they equalise. So be it!!!

It takes time to get to stats sites, up to 36 hours.

True, but not the full story.

CPDN, like other BOINC projects, periodically dumps a \'snapshot\' of everyone\'s statistics into a public location. That\'s the only information available for BOINCstats (or any other stats site) to use. It\'s a massive job, so CPDN only does it once every 24 hours: until recently, it used to be round about 12:00 GMT, but it\'s been slipping - Saturday\'s was exported at 15:39, as you can see from the signature below.

Similarly, BOINCstats keeps an eye on the project stats every hour or so - their \"incremental update\" - but only updates the graphs, rankings etc once every 24 hours: again, sometime in the mid-late afternoon. I suspect that 15:39 was just too late to be included in yesterday\'s full update, so it will be this afternoon/evening before all the details are visible.

And there\'s a third delay: recently, it\'s been taking a lot longer for trickles to appear on the CPDN result pages. It used to take 5 minutes or so, but one I sent at 21:30 (BST) last night wasn\'t \'received\' until 07:17 (UTC). The one I sent at 01:57 this morning hasn\'t arrived at the time of writing.

Add together 10 hours (trickle in transit), plus 24 hours (just miss a dump, wait for next), plus 24 hours (dump just too late for a stats site run), and you get a delay of possibly 58 hours on current timings - longer if there\'s a server breakdown, maintenance or rearrangement.

The good news is that they always arrive eventually - you just have to have patience. (As you have to to run the CPDN project itself). You\'ll get a nice big bump in the stats when the timing issues are resolved and normal service is resumed.

PS I forgot a step! Trickles \'received\' are converted into credits just once a day, sometime round about 05:00 UTC, so my 21:30 (Saturday evening) trickle was received on Sunday, will be credited on Monday morning, dumped on Monday afternoon, and become a statistic on Tuesday evening.

Gosh Richard, thank you very much indeed for that, which is the clearest explanation I\'ve yet seen of what to me was a complete mystery! Very much appreciated and I hope you don\'t mind that I\'ve taken the liberty of copying it into our team forum in this thread, with due acknowledgement to you.

Best regards,

I also have a problem with credits and trickles. I started a new model a couple of days ago and no trickles did show up on the model page yet. But other team members did get credit the last couple of days.

This is the logging from Boinc, it looks normal to me:

Is something wrong, or should I just be more patient? :-)

I think the trickle process isn\'t picking up the new 5.40 models yet, once Carl/Milo/Tolo get back to the office they can sort it out. It takes a while for external sites to pick up credit so you\'re probably talking about tuesday for credit here, and wednesday for external sites (see Richard\'s post for a more detailed explanation).

At least you\'ll get a *LOT* of credit once all your backdated credits are processed! :-)

Thank you for the answer, this sounds logical.
I use Boinc since the first beta tests years ago, so it takes more to get me worried... ;-) These things will always be solved at some time.
The strange thing was I did not see trickles show up, but they did for other users, so it seemed best to report it.

Can we wait for another week or so to get this solved? It would be a nice personal credits/day record. :-)

If you suspend network activity in the Manager/Activity button, Trickles will accumulate until you turn them loose by allowing network activity.

Thanks for this. I was getting worried that I had a \"bum\" model. Been crunching this 5.4 model now since Thursday and had no trickles (now Monday 18.30). I\'ll keep going and hope for a big bump up tomorrow or Weds then?

Cheers,

Neil.

Indeed, but then I\'ve to stop running other projects with short deadlines on this computer.
It was just a joke, I\'m not really interested in day records. :-)

Hi,

are 36 MONTHS long enough ? ;-)

I\'ve been CPDN betatester before 2003.
Changed computer, location and job... and lost all my credits.
Started again with CPDN classic and same id (frantz.desprez)until I moved to boinc client in 2006.
Again, no credits kept (up to 250000 timesteps)

is there a way to get them back and add to the current boinc account ?

thanks for your answer (and apologize for my bad english)

frantz
