Pentium 3.2 GHZ HT, two concurrent models: two trickles a day, around 24 hours per trickle for each model (one trickle every model year or .625%). Quite normal, though some overclocked machines do better.
This is a demanding time-consuming, project.

My P4 HT 2.4G takes about 220 days to complete a unit. My 2.13G Core 2 Dual will take about 85 days to complete a unit.

Yes, it\'s normal. You are doing weather calculations for a 160 period of time.

OK. Thanks, I\'ll keep at it. Though I wish it\'d send the first credit request. I\'d feel a lot happier then.
Cheers folks

You\'ll probably feel unhappy again when you find out that there can up to a 1 day lag between the trickle being sent, and the credit program being run.
And don\'t forget that trickles are to sent back science data for the just-run year.

Your first trickle made it to CPDN. In the daily credit run you will get some. This runs sometime between 04:00UTC and 10:00UTC (usually when I am in bed).

Good job so far! Your t/s speed is right on the mark.

I too was surprised at the amount of processing time needed, i thought only small chunks of data would be sent and processed within a week. I\'ve got a p4 2.4ghz with 512mb, its saying 70days to to a hadcm3i project. Now that i assume i\'ve downloaded the project, can i disconnect from the internet at any time and turn off my computer periodically? Or do i have to stay online to get these \"trickles\" sent?

thanks

You can disconnect from the internet and the trickles will be stored ready to send all together when you do connect. But if you don\'t connect to he internet for 6 weeks the server will think you\'ve abandoned the model. You\'d still be able to continue it, but the server might then also give the model to another computer.

Have a look at the project READMEs in my signature, particularly about how to back up just in case the model should crash. A model crash is always a risk because the models last so long.
