Hello,

I\'ve tried to install the boinc_4.05_windows_intelx86.exe onto my Computers.
I\'ve got MS Windows XP professional at work and home edition at home :)
Both had problems with the setup file.
It starts and after a few seconds the setup will be finished without displaying an error message.
In the task manager the setup file is in memory.

What can I do?
I think it\'s a compability problem with the old setup file in the archive.

I\'ve also tried to uncompress the boinc_4.05_windows_intelx86.exe and to start setup.exe in the /Disk1/-Directory. But it doesn\'t work. :(

Greetings from Rostock, Germany!

Me too I had some problem with apps using InstallShield v5 on my OS. If you had previously ran BOINC v3 you can decompress the cabinet file \\Disk1\\data1.cab into your %ProgramFiles%\\BOINC directory & thereafter move the file Boinc.scr to your Windows directory.

To decompress the Installshield cabinet your may need i5comp utility if your compression/decompression tool is not able to handle Installshield cabinet file. i5comp.exe is available at this site.

The issue is actually kind of an improvement in Windows security. You need the athority to run and install applications. I can usually install anything when its downloaded and executed from the 'shared documents directory'; otherwise you need to log in as admin or have the same access as admin. Just thought I mention it.

The logged on user also needs write access to the BOINC installation location when running BOINC.
