I\'m building a new pc and as the current one is going to be decommissioned, I\'d like to transfer the work already done on it to the new one.

Is this possible to do so you don\'t lose the time already spent on this run?

Hi,

Yes, you can do the following:

* Right-click on the icon, \'exit\'
* Navigate to c:\\program files\\boinc\\
* Right-click on \\boinc\\, \'copy\'.

Now depending on how you can move data between the machines, you might want to paste onto a CD-R drive, USB key, or onto a network share or similar.

Once you have the new machine up and running, copy the above onto the same location in the new machine. Then download an install boinc, selecting the same location as the installation directory.

When you start boinc for the first time on the new amchine, you should find the model running.

Another question - the new machine will have a dualcore cpu. Is it possible to transfer another pcs workunit on as well so that one can pick up on one core, and one on the other?

I can see the \"slots\" directories under \"program files\\BOINC\" on my other dualcore.

Is it as simple as copying the slot bit from the second old machine into a slot 1 on the dualcore new machine? Or do I just get to transfer one of them and just choose the one thats more advanced and lose the other ?

You can\'t do this. Or at least not without difficulty.

While there are many files associated with each model, there is one which has information for ALL models/wus from ALL projects, and this information is \'entwined\'.

Run one model, then, when it finishes, copy the ENTIRE 2nd BOINC folder across to the dual core, and run that to completion.
THEN you can run 2 models at a time.
