After rebooting my PC, my BOINC manager appears to have lost all information: it\'s completely blank. Furthermore, the main program that was running previously (over 200 hours) is no longer running; in its place, I have a program hadcm3transum_5.08_... running. Is this normal? Is there something I should do now?

The manager just displays what the \'worker\' is doing. If it loses conatct with the worker, it\'s got nothing to display, so that it appears as if everything has disappeared.
This can happen on reboot when another program grabs the port allocated to BOINC. Some Windows programs do this occasionally.
A reboot usually cures things by giving BOINC another chance to \'get in first\'.

I never reboot without ending BOINC and its crunching client \"gracefully\".

Commands -> Suspend, then File -> Exit. This will make sure that all pending file I/O are complete before Windows Shutdown forcibly terminates all active processes.

Naturally, a Windows crash or hardware failure can have even worse impact on a running WU; I therefore take a weekly backup of the entire Program Files\\BOINC folder (after ending BOINC & client). This allows me to restart any WU if anything happens to it.

I also have set the CPDN project to \'No new work\' so that no new WU is downloaded in case of a crash.
