I recently re-installed my HP Deskjet drivers and software on a machine that had BOINC running SETI, Einstein and CPDN. Now everytime CPDN starts, a Windows error message appears and one of the other two projects kicks in.

I\'ve tried disconnecting from and re-attaching to the project, but there seems to be a conflict between the two programs. Anyone else experience this?

Config: BOINC 5.2.6 on Celeron 2.4 with a gig of memory.

Stewie: So, is there any tread left on the tires? Or at this point would it be like throwing a hot dog down a hallway?

2/14/2006 17:14:49|climateprediction.net|Unrecoverable error for result sulphur_hz1n_100838571_0 ( - exit code -1073741819 (0xc0000005))

This happens for every WU, plus a Windows Application Error for sulphur_4.22_windows_intelx86.exe appears.

Oh dear. Yes it\'s a Windows error. Could be a graphics conflict, so try updating your drivers as that might fix it.

Otherwise, there might be any number of explanations. But if it crashes on download, you might try suspending network connection and booting into safe mode with the network enabled, then try and get BOINC to download a WU. Some people have found that works. Once you have got past the download, it should run in normal mode.

It gets past the download and in fact, I did the HP update with a WU in process and about 35% done when the error first surfaced, so it\'s not a d/l issue at all, it\'s a conflict (my guess is that the HP monitoring software is using some protected portion of memory needed by CPDN, but not SETI or Einstein.

Performed a blanket Windows Update, which didn\'t specifically grab a driver, but seemed to correct the problem, since the application is now running AND the HP monitor seems to work.

Thanks!

Wow. Hope that stands up and it keeps being stable. If only everyone could get rid of that error through a Windows update.
