a number of people have had this, and it usually seems to be a "Negative pressure value" calculated. I think I've isolated the problem and am hopefully going to have a fix by launch this Thursday.

It can also happen if the model process is manually ended!

I've had this several times now since I joined this project. Infact every WU I've had so far has ended this way, some after 5 min, 35 min, 1.5 hrs, even had one go for 2 days.. but the end result is the same. I really want to help in this project but I feel I'm doing more harm than good.

The one that ran the longest I actually got a trickle in there and was able to look up the results, I saw that a few others ended the same way so I didn't feel so bad. But it still doesn't seem like it's running the way it should, I mean is it just luck of the draw that I've d/l'd models that end this way.

I've tried different swap file settings, setting the "Leave applications in memory while preempted?" to yes and no. I've detached from the project for 24 hrs then reattached. I always close (exit) BOINC before shutting down the PC, I'm to the point of totally uninstalling BOINC and doing a fresh install.

Does anyone have any pointers to something I may be missing?

My system spec's are:
WinXP w/SP2, Athlon 2400+, 512mb RAM, 2 40GB HD's in RAID 0, 1 40GB set as a backup drive. All of the latest drivers installed.

Thanks for any help, Dave

Hardware specific tests & checks is all I can suggest - just because it's running at spec' doesn't mean it's 100% stable. ;-)

Hi everybody,

Steve has just asked this same question about exit code -5 on the other cpdn boinc questions and problems forum in the Windows section, and I have posted an (unfortunately) lengthy reply there.
