There will be times when the servres are down for various reasons. Whilst it is frustrating not to have an explanation, it has to be said that CPDN has suffered less from this than other projects.

BOINC is so designed that temporary periods out of contact should not matter, as it will usually have work to be getting on with in the meantime. Unfortunately that will not always be the case, and then you just have to be patient.

This is not a usual outage, the scheduler does reply to a web browser but not to the BOINC client.

Just before that, the project sent a maintenance message for some time.

The links on home.php look slightly different too now.

My guess would be, they did an upgrade on server side to newer BOINC scripts and something is wrong with that version. Another project (I think it was Einstein) had the same not too long ago and they got it fixed - so there's still hope ;-)

But this is only my guess, I don't have informations about it.

Yes, there was a major server upgrade yesterday. It should fix a lot of the outstanding problems, including the one where results could be sent to more than one host.

My guess is that they used the standard web scripts to get things running and will add the CPDN specials once everything's settled down.

Hi Doug,

You're email address has been stripped out :(

Did you use angled bracket? This board interprets them as HTML tags and removes anything between them. If you don't have a closing bracket it removes everything to the end of your message!

As far as teams are concerned, people join for a variety of reasons. Shared interests, support for problems, the feeling of being part small group within the larger community of project participants and contributing to the friendly rivalry between teams.

You can register at our forums by clicking on the image in my signature and join our CPDN team by clicking the link next to the sig :)
