hi guys

im running boinc manager 4.37 and as i said in the title, its running seti and einstein but not climate prediction.
is there a problem with the servers or the client im using or one of my settings?
im on a mac, G5 dual processor 2.5Ghz loads of ram and hard disk space, and ive given seti 100% einstein 10% and climate 90%
of course this means 50%, 5% and 45%.
ive tried to update climate a number of times, here is some of the messages i get from the server

in red

climateprediction.net Sun May 15 13:33:11 2005 request_reschedule_cpus: process exited

can anyone tell me what all this means, why the server seems to think im processing zero data, and if there is anything i can do to get climate predition working on my boinc

thx

I'm not a Mac person, so I can't give specific help, but if you look at one of the many models that have failed, you'll see that your computer is having trouble finding a library file.

quote
dyld: hadsm3um_4.12_powerpc-apple-darwin can't open library: /opt/ibmcmp/lib/libxlsmp.A.dylib (No such file or directory, errno = 2)
/quote

Perhaps it's a path problem. Or maybe the file is missing.
If you need more help, you'll need to wait for someone who is good with Macs.

hi Les

im afraid it doesnt, it was a brand new program, installed, the directory doesnt exsist but i have no idea how to make it appear. i tried the command line version and the menu bar version before this gui version was released. so i guess it maybe still has bugs, at least for climate prediction files

but at least i know that its probably not the server, if no one can help i can just keep my eyes open for a new installer file and hope that cures the problem
at least im still doing seti

thx

I don't know if it's your problem or not, but did you repair disk permissions after installing the BOINC software? If you aren't familiar with this, go to Applications/Utilities and start up Disk Utility. Click on your hard drive icon when it shows up, then on the "Repair Permissions" button.

No guarantee this will solve the problem for you, but it might help. I'm running CPDN on my G4 PowerBook using the Team MacNN optimized BOINC 4.19 client, running in terminal mode. I think I remember reading somewhere that both 4.25 and 4.3x run SETI fine but have problems running CPDN. If you're running MenuBar, you probably have 4.25. To continue to run MenuBar, but switch to a stable (but optimized) client, take a look at this thread - scroll down to the post by mikkyo.

hi C

im no longer trying to run 4.25 or the command line version
im now running 4.37
i dont wish to run the repair disk permissions, apple does some weird things with accounts. ive set up my mac so that things like internet plugins, mail and safari, have account wide access, make changes in one set of files and those changes can be seen in all accounts.
boinc data is stored in the main library folder, so it is already system wide, ive not needed to alter the way boinc was installed.
ok so now everyone will stick there hands up in horror.....
i only need security from the net, i dont need it within my own house.
i know this is not such an issue in panther, but in jaguar it was much more an issue for me.
when i run repair disk permissions, very screwy things have happened, and i have to spend ages resetting permissions back so that i can use my own computer.
if there is a file that needs to have its permissions changed, i can manually change them, but i really really do not want to repair disk permissions.

any other suggestions?

thx

I did a google on "libxlsmp.A.dylib" and it was only mentioned here.

Maybe if you posted in that thread, the person who has it could help.
