I do not keep my computers running 24 hours and so what is the best way to shut down cp?

I am currently just pressing - c in the shell that is running it before I shutdown, but when I restart the TS counter is about 100 less than what it was. I know its not a lot, but what do other people use to shutdown the process?

The program checkpoints its progress every 144 TS, so you want to try to stop it as soon after a checkpoint as you can to avoid having to redo calculations.

You don't need the calculator. CPDN's world is neatly divided into 48 timesteps a day, 30 days to a month, 12 months to a year. Save points come after the end of every third day, and so at the beginning of the 4th, 7th, 10th etc day of every month.
