No Trickles yet and at 39999

I am running a Mac Ibook. Am currently at 39999 steps and have not trickled yet. I have no firewalls set and have no trickle* files accumulating (that I am aware of anyway). and updating my _prefs doesn't work either. I missed the first trickle (I wasn't online) but it hasn't seem to have trickled even when my timing was right. Is this a problem? |

Trickles will accumulate until you logon to the net and then upload. Not sure about Mac's, but in Windows they are in the climateprediction.net folder. As Mac's only have command line access, I'm not sure if there is an equivilent to the windows option: Disable BOINC network access This stops BOINC from talking to the servers until you let it. You may have something wrong here. However there are NO trickles on your Account data page, and you should have about 3 by now, so you MAY have a problem. I've heard that if you don't trickle for 6 weeks, the server considers the model lost, and re-sends it to another user, up to a maximum of 5 times. But you can still keep crunching it, and surprise the server later. It should be possible to force an upload, but I can't find the ref for Mac's. If you look through the threads, you may find it. One way to check and see if you are actually calculating anything is to go to Applications/Utilities and open Activity Monitor. In the top right corner, pull down and select My Processes. You should be able to see the CPDN process calculating - it's probably called "hadsm..." and it should be using 90-95% of your CPU cycles, when nothing else is running. If you are using Terminal to run CPDN, you should actually see the interim calculation results in the terminal window. Thank you. (And in way less time than 54 days!) I tried both Activity Monitor (no evidence of activity whatsoever). In Terminal I got the following in the window: Terminal-bash-80X24 last login: wed. Apr 6 08:07:37 on console Welcome to Darwin! string of numbers ~ggmckenzie$ This seems to imply that I am connected, but perhaps not calculating. What do I do now?? If it means re-subscribing, is there a way to continue the piece that I've already started? Greg McKenzie |
