Yes, i agree with that - CPU temp can vary very fast when idle vs. full load.

Some of this apps should work and show you temps. Also, some sw overheat protection should be provided by them...

ive had it error at the same point too. it runs on a dell inspiron 1100 notebook with a celeron processor. but ive ran my diagonostics to seew what the fan speeds are and it never went into high speed so i dont think it was cpu overheat

OK, I have 2 pcs, both DELL, a laptop and a desktop, crunching CPDN. I'll keep an eye on both of them to see if they get a "-5" error when this summer temperatures will go into the high 30s. Shall let you know if anything happens :-)
