I have recently built myself a new computer which is much faster than my old one. I am now going to sell my old computer, so it won't be running the BOINC software anymore. I have added my new computer to my account, but I want to remove the old one. How is this achieved?

Hello Tom,

did you take your data from the old computer? Then it should be no problem to make a merge of the two computers.
Otherwise - sorry, don't know if there is any solution.

Bye

Sorry - what a nonsense I wrote here?!? :-(
This is not so easy, of course, because the two computers are totally different and so you will not be able to merge them, I'm afraid...

Bye
Stefan

Merge uses the information in 'CPU type' to see if there is a possiblity of the 2 computers being the same.
If not, no merge!

And the newer versions of BOINC record the information differently for some computers with which it
previously had difficulties. Which means some people may end up with "two" computers after a BOINC upgrade.
What may be needed is a small program to force a merge, but I think this should be an Admin job, to prevent people 'fiddling'.

Apparently, after a period of time, computers which haven't produced work will be removed from the list.
But the 'period' is a few years because of the long processing time on slow computers.

So, just keep crunching on the new machine.

This is now a little irritating - it would be really nice to be able to at least 'hide' machines that are no longer running. Eg. Only 8 machines, ie. 1, 2, 3, 7, 11, 14, 15 & 16 are still running out of my list of 20 computers.

Automaticaly hide any machine if it hasn't trickled for two weeks would be good IMO...

Good idea. It could be a toggle: Hide / Unhide, in the user prefs.

Yes it´s a good idear !

This Hide / Unhide Function will be a good thing.

To delete old mechines, is not so good, because you will loos the credits earned by the old mechine. I think so !??
