Hello,

After reading the article on the bbc news website and with myself being a frequent aviator whos interested in todays climate I decided to make some good use of my PC by signing up and running the software on my PC.

After reading the cp website I can't seem to figure what the program BOINC is currently doing. Its currently got something going on in the work tab with a large time to go before completion. When this is completed is this when the "rotating earth" becomes visible? or what happens after this point?

If you go to the work tab and right click on the climateprediction.net, an option to show graphics should appear. You can then rotate it if wanted.

After the work is completed it will upload some of the information to the servers and start work on another model that will have been downloaded.

I'd like to direct you to a thread giving options to interact with graphics, unfortunately that board is down at present. Try various keys on keyboard. :-)

Hi,

There's a bit about interaction with the globe graphic on the "Getting Started" page on the website:

I hope that helps,

Thanks,

Hello

Thanks for all the help.

After viewing the Graph everytime I try and close the graph using the X sign on the graph window it results in an uncommanded reboot of my system. The first time this happened it caused minor loss of work I was working on so it wasn't so bad. I tried it a further two times and each time i click the X my system reboots.

Is this a common problem? is there another way to close the graph without clicking the X? Its an annoying problem that I hope can be resolved.

I have had crashes resulting in the silly 'do you want to sent report to microsoft' message but not had any reboots. I tend to use other programs to view the models rather than the built in visualisation. Hopefully before long there will be an IDL package to view your model. There is currently also CPView but this cannot yet view current timesteps.

It is normal to go back to the last multiple of 144 timestep whenever you restart CP. Though some people are very occasionally finding their model going back to the beginning. This shouldn't happen though it is possible for a model to go back to the beginning of a model year.

What type of computer system, operating system, and graphics card do you have? This should not be a normal behavior. Sometimes updating video drivers can solve visualization related problems.
