Thyme Lawn is frequently making posts like this:

CPDN stresses your hardware more than anything else that you're likely to run on your system, and the most frequent causes of these errors are overclocking, overheating and flakey hardware.

Or they can make it have checkpoints, and rollback and recalculate a specific part whever it has an error instead of aborting the whole thing. It only stands to reason to do this.

The model does have 3 rollback points. It first tries the previous 144 timestep checkpoint, then the start of the current month and finally the start of the current year. The log files in your climateprediction.net/{result id} directory might give a better indication of what's causing the errors and should indicate if the model has been rolled back at any point.

If the model hasn't progressed far enough to have created a rollback point it could, of course, error out straight away. There may also be some error conditions where it's not possible to rollback to one of the save points.
