My completion time shows 1703:38:26 and task manager shows cpu at 49% on my P4 2.6 (1G ram, 40G free hd) It also shows cpu time as 66:36:20. I also have Seti connected to the boinc client and the times are much much shorter -- is this normal?

Thanks!

I would expect a CPDN WU to take about 450-500 hours CPU time on your machine, running at about 2.2 secs/timestep. You will run rather slower if using the screensaver or graphics - advice is to disable the screensaver and not to have the BOINC window showing the work or disk tab as these consume CPU time. You can still call up the graphics when you want to see what is going on.

CPDN WUs are very different from those of SETI - they are not really comparable. See the FAQ.

My p4 1.8 does WU in about 700 hrs. You need to check Task manager and see what else is running, and shut it down.....Do you have HT enabled?

Hello Andrew,

I'm experiancing the same. I run an AMD 1.7Ghz. Nothing else running in the back ground and my project is predicted to be around 1500hours. Is this common? How can I alter the time step? (sorry If i'm sounding a bit newbie-ish, but I am fairly new to this software)

The time-step is the time it takes to a computer to calculate each step. So there is no way to alter it.

CPDN units are much bigger than SETI.
My PentiumIV 2.4 makes 1 SETI in 4 hours and 1 CPDN in 700 hours.
There is no point in compare units becouse there nothing in common with them.

In CPDN you report credit about 10000 steps ( more or less).
In SETI you report credit when you finish the work unit.

In CPND you don't need to connect your computer for a long time.
IN SETI you need to connect at least each 10 days.

I hope this answer your questions.
